Final thoughts on Maya Fundamental

The course is awesome.

My brain is in for a great exercise. All those nodes make me think so hard that it felt so good.
Buzz is a hard maker, you'll fail if you can't follow instruction and the last 4 projects are hard. That is why this course is high in quality, that's why I love study with Buzz.

Everytime I finish one task, I hunger for more. I gain not only knowledge but confidence, motivation, and most importantly, I believe I'll have a good future in 3D animation.

I really like Buzz/Zak's humour. They are so so funny. I love those sound effects they make, wonder if they practice it everyday :)

This is an amazing journey, it just started. I can't wait for the next class.

Highly recommend anyone to join this class.

PS. Yes, it possible to complete this course in 4 weeks.

Buzz extend it 3 weeks but i didn't make use of it because I was away from my computer.

Maya Fundamental course Reflection - Final

I'm waiting for my Maya fundamental certificate....
YES, that mean I have complete the course...

The course is amazing...

The first project is relatively simple. It was designed to let us familiar with the workflow and interface. Buzz introduce deformer, collision and basic shader.

The second project quickly move you up to another. Complex shading network, character rigging, and expression will WOW you. I am amaze by each frame i animated. The final render leave me speechless.

The third project is HUGE... you get to create your own interface, extremely complex shading network with nodes. Best of all, snow, fire, explosion, smoke... The final result is stunning.

Maya Architecture is the best part of all in the course. Buzz/Zak will put maya in the palm of your hand and pouring knowledge into your brain.

The logic behind visibility seems confusing ... I'm stuck halfway through..

Final Week

i've pass the project 3 section 1 & 2...

This will be my final week with maya fundamental. It's been a great journey.

I don't want it to end but it must end in order to start another journey.. ... of course, with buzz and zak again :) in an advance course :) i hope

Haven't update for a while, so here ya go.

yep.. I passed Project 2.... and the first part of project 3.
Now i'm working on animatic.

The alien abduction render is stunning, I'm so proud of the result.

Texturing in prj 3 is so great, I love it. It's boring anyone to watch but pretty fun to do.

This fundamental class is amazing. The stuff that i thought i could never learn are being taught in this fundamental class.

Ah, gotta get back to work.

I took a long 3 days break. Just getting back 2 maya today. Almost finish all the shading.

Advance shading is really really interesting. Hope I can start rigging tomorrow.

Batman Begins? it borings.
I'm glad the city goes back to it original form, away from fantasy style.
Some action in the beginning is cool. But other than that, the movie is pretty dull.

Yay, I pass project 2... Zak marks it, he is very funny.. i have a good laugh.

I have double check, tripple check my model but some how some profile curves still there. I almost fail because i didn't show the door's selection handle. Zak wasn't happy... [plz plz don't fail me ] ....... but then he turn it on and he is happy so i pass :D:D..

Now i can go on texturing it ...

Project 2 - out of the way

Finally, I have submitted my project 2..

Properly rest for a day then come back to Prj 9 ..... time estimate was 25 minutes but it took me alot more than that already. Not hard, but the logic is confusing... especially Invert & Override

Already finish the ship.. felt so tired...

Check out the rigging section and it looks exciting.... all those flexor, rigging, skinning, solver... I haven't got a clue what they are....

Can't wait to progress 2 the next step.

Finally, I pass the colour wheel prj.

The visibility proj. still troubling me. I woke up this morning and my first thought were nodes :D...

After fixing up the Thickness on my colour wheel... I started 2 work on "Selective Visibility"....

Been working on it for 7 hours already. Got the sphere displayed in the appropriate quarant using just 4 nodes...

But now, the zero axis + Invert effect... hmmmm

Should i move on to project 2 and came back later????...
I think I should do both at the same time.

Buzz assignment is very challenging, it makes me think and that feels good :).
My whole world now consist of only X, Z and nodes :D

FINISH --- colour wheel

It's 5:30 now and I have finish my colour wheel....

it took me 2.5 hours drawing 2 pages of complicated diagram until I realise a very simple solution by using ****edit: not allow to give out answer ***...

My thickness doesn't work well so i don't think Buzz will pass me though...

Anyway, gotta go 2 sleep.

It's 2:15am in the morning.... I still doing the colour wheel...

I have 2 pages full of diagrams... then when I jump to maya, things doesn't seem to work out...

The blender node only takes R/G/B ... i have 3 condition nodes wire to it but it only takes 6 connections at a time (for colour 1 and colour 2)...

Anyway, back to work... i never think this hard for a long time... a good exercise for my brain :)..

I'm so desperate to start proj 2 ..... but gotta take 1 step at a time..

I'm up to Maya Architecture section.. So far, i think this is THE BEST lecture section ever..
Understand this section allows us to have greater control over everything that we going to do in maya. Just for this section alone, it already worth the money.

Knowing how a brush effects the line stroke, an artist can create amazing pictures.
Learning modelling alone won't get you far if you don't know what's happening inside maya..

I swear to god any one who miss out on this class will miss out an amazing learning opportunity.

I submit my project...
Went to school doing 2 exams, I came back and Buzz/Zak pass me :) ..

However, my animation need alot of tweak and like most newbie, I use lots of effect packages in maya which is bad. The thing is I don't know how to set them up yet so they don't look real at all....

Will come back and fix this project... but now, it's time to move on :)

I've just finish the animation. Felt like I'm walking on air .. so cool..

Those rigid/soft bodies stuff is so interesting and what a suprise, it was so easy to learn.
I'm so proud... not from watching my final animation but from what I have learn by doing that animation.. AMAZING SUTFF.

I can't believe I actually learn this stuff in 3 days... I never thought I ever have a chance to learn maya properly... when all hope is lost, Buzz gives it back to me... I don't think paying $9000 going to maya school can teach you this much.

For beginners who miss out on this opportunity, you will regret it.

Just back from school and going through a few more videos.

I've almost finish animating my little ball. It was so cool. I never thought I could animate but now that I do, I will keep improving.

It's hard to figure out the relationship between the animgraph and the actual animation. With Buzz explanation, it easy, but when I have to interpret it by myself, it kinda hard.

Got assignment hand in tomorrow so have to stop Maya now.. Be back tomorrow.

I'm about 2 go 2 school now but I got so excited that I have to sign up here.

Maya Fundamental at 3DBuzz.com was awesome. Buzz has made this software become an easy tool that I never thought could learn.

I'm up to Custom Attributes right now. I watch every single video carefully with lots of rewind.

have so many final exam/assignments on this wk and next week. And i don't want to fall behind my 3D Maya Fundamental class mates.. most of them already finished the first project.
